Anthony Joshua won’t fall into Deontay Wilder’s ‘trap’, says Eddie Hearn
Anthony Joshua will not fall to Deontay Wilder’s’trap’ ahead of the Andy Ruiz Jr rematch from the WBC winner after a challenge, says Eddie Hearn.
Joshua and Ruiz have flown to Saudi Arabia for today press conference on December 7, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
However, Wilder has that week tried to seize the spotlight in the branch, insisting he wants not and the Ruiz Jr-Joshua winner an expected rematch with Tyson Fury, an announcement that’s not being treated badly by the promoter of the star.
«Allow me to tell you about Deontay Wilder, and actually right now there’s no point us speaking about Deontay Wilder, because the focus is Andy Ruiz,» Hearn told Sky Sports.
«At this time the position that we had, was the place in my view of dominance in the division, no more exists, so we can’t be calling outside Wilder and that or this. The focus is Ruiz but is not it interesting that when on struggle week Joshua-Ruiz, at the end of May, Deontay Wilder declared that he fought Luis Ortiz on Joshua fight week.
«We are now in the beginning of September, there’s absolutely no struggle, there’s no place, there’s not any date. He hasn’t spoke about Anthony Joshua likely. Joshua-Ruiz II media week what occurs?
«Deontay Wilder pops up and says’Oh, I’d like to combat Anthony Joshua and unify instead of Tyson Fury.’ Why didn’t when Joshua had the belts you need to do it?
«For the last almost two years, every question going into an AJ battle was’when are you planning to fight Wilder? When is the Wilder battle oh Ruiz, don’t be concerned about Ruiz?’ He dropped into that snare.
«We are not likely to fall into that snare. Forget Deontay Wilder, let’s go and ship Tyson Fury. The greatest battle in the heavyweight division is Joshua-Ruiz, that is the attention.»
Talking on’Untold Truth’,» Joshua told Sky Sports about conversation of the undisputed fight demonstrated a distraction before his June defeat.
«It was like I was coming to the end of my street already, stressing about undisputed,» said Joshua.
«That undisputed stuff? It had been right in front of me it was one of the greatest curses lingering over my mind once I was winner»
Hearn disclosed that Britain’s Liam Smith and Alexander Povetkin might comprise on the undercard.
«I think a few heavyweight fights,» said Hearn. «Out here, they are very excited by the prospect of large heavyweight fights on your card.
«I think Povetkin is a guy they would love to see out here. I’d love to observe a couple world championship fights too.
«Liam Smith from Jessie Vargas is a fight that I am looking at for this card too.»
